Programs and Initiatives
Thank you for stopping by the initiatives page to find out more information about what your Mayor’s Office is doing for you. We began the journey to OneAugusta and are working daily to make your government work better for YOU! These initiatives reflect priorities you’ve shared with me and that we adopt as a community to achieve the goal to be a model community for others across the country and throughout the world. I hope you’ll be engaged in these initiatives as we work together to build our community and build up those who live in it.
The City of Augusta and The Clubhou.se are partnering to help small businesses grow their presence online with a Let’s Put Augusta on the Map workshop. Business owners will learn to create and personalize their own website, domain name and list their business on Google Maps.
Mayor's Christmas Card Contest
The first annual Mayor’s Christmas Card Contest is an opportunity for Elementary and Middle School Aged Children residing in Augusta-Richmond County to creatively display their “favorite things” about our city during the holidays. Submissions should reflect the theme “My Favorite Things: Christmas in Augusta.” The winner’s artwork will be the featured design for the Mayor’s 2015 holiday card.
My Brother's Keeper Augusta
The City of Augusta is participating in President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Challenge. My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) is an initiative that focuses on six milestones that build support to tackle the opportunity gaps for our children. www.mbkaugusta.com
The Mayor’s Fellows program provides both undergraduate and graduate-level students the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of how a high-energy local government office operates. This program caters to students satisfying class credit, fulfilling internship requirements, or those simply wishing to gain experience working in public service, the community, and the governmental arena.
