2016 Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award
Innovation and excellence in the application of geographic information system (GIS) technology were recognized with assorted geospatial awards as GIS provider acknowledged recipients from across globe at their annual in San Diego, California on June 29th. are presented to organizations around the world in recognition of their innovative use of GIS to collect data, extrapolate it, make informed decisions, and exact change. 180 institutions were in fields such as local government, agriculture, environmental analysis, emergency response, retail, and water management.
The Augusta GIS office was one of 180 organizations in the world and one of two in GA that qualified for the SAG. Augusta’s GIS Department was awarded the SAG based on the achievements highlighted below:
- Creation of a Master Roads and Address Database (MRAD)
- Create a CityWorks Software Consolidation Deployment Plan, and
- Citizen Engagement Mobile and Web Mapping Solutions
The team’s strategic plan focused on three major areas to ensure GIS authoritative data was being leveraged and integrated into all major software solutions throughout the City of Augusta. ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS for Server web services were the main tools deployed to leverage crowdsourcing, web service integration with large solutions, and will continue to be utilized to ultimately reach their goal for GIS-Centric Software Consolidation throughout all departments.
2016 Cityworks Exemplary User Award
Every year, a select group of agencies are chosen from the significant group of nominees to receive the coveted Cityworks Exemplary User Award at the annual Cityworks User Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Though many candidates are closely qualified, winners have each applied Cityworks within their organization well beyond the typical use, leveraging the Cityworks platform and Empowering GISTM for their constituents and their communities.
