Diamond Lakes Regional Park opened on November 11, 1999 on land formerly known as the Augusta International Raceway. The land was purchased in 1996 and funded primarily by SPLOST funds.

On November 11, 1999, opening ceremonies on the adult side commenced with the opening pitch thrown by resident Georgia ASA Hall of Fame members Buck Salter, Pat Rachels, Earl Babbitt, Cotton Harris, and Dick Johnson. The year 2000 marked the opening pitch on the youth side as league play began.

Since then, over 300 tournaments and 8,000 league games have been played. Diamond Lakes has hosted two ASA National Tournaments, and numerous athletic associations tournaments such as ASA, USSSA, SPA, NSA, ISA, GHSA, BPA, WFA, GRPA, USFA, Triple Crown Sports, Terry Pendleton Baseball, Lisa Fernandez Softball, and the Georgia Games.
