ABOUT US … Where the Best is our Standard

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Facilities is comprised of four units: The Office of the Director, Augusta Recreation, Augusta Parks and Augusta Facilities.

The Department serves our community under the leadership of Interim Director Ron Houck, CPRP. The Office of the Director houses the Business Office, Planning, Development and Asset Management and Workplace Health, Safety and Training Office.

Augusta Recreation is responsible for the development and management of Youth and Adult Athletics, Waterfront and Aquatics, Community Recreation Programming, Special Events Office, Senior Adult Programming and Facility Rental Management.

Augusta Parks is responsible for Landscape, Grounds and Turf Management, Special Event Venues, Regional Parks and Cemetery Operations.

Augusta Facilities is responsible for Facility Maintenance and Management of all Municipal Buildings and In-House Construction Management.

Contracted tree removal at the Augusta Riverwalk will begin on Monday, August 17th by Barlett Tree Experts.  Work hours will be approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Work completion is anticipated by Friday, August 21.  The contractor will require periodic closures of pedestrian walkways to provide a safe workspace for the contractor and for pedestrian safety.  For more information, please contact Gary Hegner, n Deputy Director-Parks, at 706.842.2680.
