Augusta Selects Firm for Events Marketing Support

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta has selected First Foundry, a division of GateHouse Media, to assist with marketing and widespread publicity of city events in 2018. The city’s Board of Commissioners gave its approval to the contract today.

“This arrangement will strengthen our ability to actively reach more people around the Augusta region who might be interested in attending these events, as well as additional business that might be interested in sponsorship roles,” said Augusta Administrator Janice Allen Jackson. “We have three new events set to launch this year. First Foundry will help us spread the word far beyond Augusta.”

According to Recreation and Parks Director Glenn Parker, the events are fulfilling the next steps of the city’s announced Recreation Master Plan. The plan analyzed numerous recreational venues in Augusta and residents’ desires for events, as well as types of activities that present the greatest opportunity for success in the area.

Although the first events will likely take place in downtown Augusta, it is possible that additional venues could be utilized – depending on space, parking and accessibility.

“We will choose locations that will also accommodate drawing visitors from surrounding communities,” said Parker. “We want Augusta to be a destination for families seeking a getaway, as well as an entertaining place to live.”

Upon finalization of the contract, First Foundry will assist the city in several marketing needs for upcoming events, including:

  • Developing an overall “theme” to brand Augusta’s events. City staff will work with the company’s creative team to have that theme prepared early in the process.
  • Developing and executing a marketing and events strategy
  • Managing relationships with event vendors.
  • Overseeing development of traditional and digital media, as well as other promotional materials
  • Managing budgets and adhering projects to those budgets and timelines.
