The City of Augusta has applied for over $ 50 Million as part of a Consortium including three for profit companies to meet threshold requirements. These funds if approved, will be used for eligible uses per HUD including but not limited to some demolition of abandoned and vacant houses and some new construction in neighborhoods hit hardest by blight. Through this grant and local funding, we are currently able to offer free entry level Internet access for up to 2 continuous hours and high speed internet access at competitive rates. The City has deployed access points in a 4 square mile area and is currently expanding the network on Washington Road. The best method for connecting and subscribing is the “How to Sign Up” section of the GTS brochure.
